Virginia Fikes, FNP-C grew up in the small town of Liberty, Texas about 50 miles from the Gulf Coast. She was first introduced to the medical field at age 14 when she joined an EMS explorer program, which inspired her to pursue a career in nursing. She went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from Lamar University in 2012. She started her nursing career specializing in maternal and child health and gained many years of experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas.
She has always had a passion for traveling, and in 2016 she decided to pack her bags and become a travel nurse, working 3-month nursing assignments at hospitals throughout Northern and Southern California. She first came to Libby in 2019, taking a travel nursing assignment at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center. She is an avid National Parks visitor and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to cross Glacier and Banff off of her bucket list. She grew to love all of the people and activities that define Libby and decided to make it her forever home in 2020.
She obtained her Master of Science Degree in Nursing in May of 2021 at The University of Texas in Arlington. She performed her clinical rotations at the Libby Clinic with Dr. Rice, Dr. Jarrett and Belinda Wise, FNP-C, and is excited to be a part of the Libby Clinic family. Her style of practice includes traditional and alternative approaches to health and wellness. She approaches patients with an understanding that physical health goes hand-in-hand with mental and spiritual health.
She is recently married and has two dogs. She enjoys hiking, running, and gardening in her free time. She has a passion for triathlons, having completed one full Ironman and many half Ironman’s, and plans to compete in another full Ironman triathlon soon.
