Well Child Checks
From birth to age 18, it is important that children have regular check-ups with their doctor. For the first 2-3 years of life, these visits will be more regular, and then space out to just once a year as long as the child remains healthy. These visits include age-appropriate developmental screening (including screening for autism), height and weight screening, vision and hearing checks at specified ages, and occasionally blood tests when indicated (for example, to screen for anemia or elevated lead levels in certain children). It is also recommended that children stay up-to-date on their vaccines according to the CDC recommended vaccination schedule. The Libby Clinic is part of the Montana state vaccination program, through which some patients qualify for free vaccinations. Call to see if you are eligible.
In addition to the routine physical exam and screenings above, well child checks are an important opportunity for you and your child to get to know your provider. As family medicine practitioners, we at the Libby Clinic are dedicated to keeping families healthy throughout the life span, and an important part of that is maintaining a relationship with a provider that knows you and your child well.
